Ahmad Hardy Poised to Lead Missouri Tigers' Revamped Backfield

Ahmad Hardy is making an immediate impact in the Missouri Tigers' backfield, bringing both experience and explosive talent from his standout year at Louisiana-Monroe.

After leading the Sun Belt Conference with 1,351 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as a freshman, Hardy is turning heads for his ability to break tackles and rack up yards after contact.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and offensive coordinator Kirby Moore have praised Hardy’s toughness, vision, and seamless fit with Missouri’s offensive scheme.

In practices, Hardy’s quick adaptation has coaches and teammates optimistic about his future in the SEC.

Supporting him, Jamal Roberts adds reliability in crucial roles, while Tavorus Jones and freshman Marquise Davis round out a talented backfield, promising a versatile, hard-hitting ground attack for Tigers fans this season.

Vera Elwood Secures Victory in Columbia's Ward 2 Special Election

Vera Elwood has won the special election to represent Columbia’s Second Ward on the City Council, defeating Ken Rice with 56.6% of the vote, or 1,480 ballots.

This election was brought on by the resignation of former Councilwoman Lisa Meyer in a closely watched race.

Elwood, a longtime librarian and community advocate, campaigned under the theme “A Columbia for All,” with priorities including full staffing of city departments, better public infrastructure, and safer, more accessible streets.

Her grassroots outreach and commitment to transparency won her wide-ranging support from labor unions, former council members, state representatives, and firefighters.

Rice, chief operating officer at Pickleman’s Franchising, emphasized public safety and increasing resident input, gaining endorsement from Meyer.

With an above-expected 12.58% voter turnout, Elwood’s victory signals a shift to more inclusive, community-focused leadership for Ward 2.
